This Style Guide outlines standards for clean, consistent formatting for articles on the Fruity Wiki. This page is especially useful to show first time editors the various contextual features of this specific wiki.

The formatting described here are guidelines and may be overridden when circumstances warrant it. These guidelines will never be perfect for every situation. However, please try your best to follow the advice outlined in this article so others may use your edits as an example when creating and editing their own articles. Respect your fellow users and don't be negative about their efforts. Do your best to improve content that doesn't follow this Style Guide and explain your reasoning for those circumstances which deviate from it.

Use the Style Guide's talk page to discuss these guidelines and resolve disagreements. Anything written here is subject to change as this wiki and its community grows and their needs become more defined.

Note: Because this wiki is relatively new, its Style Guide is still a work in progress and should evolve as the wiki grows. Suggestions and discussions on the talk page are appreciated.

Articles Edit

Article names Edit

  • The first word is not "a", "an", or "the" unless by convention one of those words is an inseparable part of the name.
    • Where they are part of the name ("The Wheel"), fix how the page is sorted in a categories by setting a different index (in the Visual Editor's options menu).
  • Articles about civilizations, units, buildings and wonders are named as their counterparts in the game.
    • For civilizations, use the empire name ("Mongolia") instead of the adjective ("Mongols") to keep titles in line with their names in the game and its Civilopedia. The adjective should be used in article content in the right context - just be careful to properly format links. You can customize the appearance of a link with a "|" character, like this: [[Mongolia|Mongols]]

It may be appropriate to create redirects from one or two common misspellings or mis-capitalizations of titles to make searches easier.

User pages Edit

Users can be creative in their user pages (talk, profile, sandboxes, etc.) and largely ignore this page's guidelines. The only restrictions are:

  • No inappropriate content is allowed. If you need to ask someone if the content is appropriate, get rid of it.

Deletion Edit

Reasons to delete content from the wiki include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Copyright violations and other material violating the non-free content criteria.
  • Vandalism, including inflammatory redirects, pages that exist only to disparage their subject, patent nonsense, or gibberish.
  • Advertising or other spam without relevant content (but not an article about an advertising-related subject).
  • Articles that present information for which reliable sources couldn't be found in spite of thorough attempts in that direction.
  • Redundant or otherwise useless templates.
  • Unneeded categories.
  • Unused or obsolete files.
